2.3 Jitterbug

Hello fellow bloggers, for this week of Kyra’s and I’s genius hour project, we are doing the jitterbug. We both were looking forward to this dance as it was really fun. We only practiced for one day this week, which was really all we needed, as we both had previous knowledge of this dance so the steps were easy to pick up on.

Last time we had genius hour, we also had a basketball game and I had some bad luck in the game where I broke my right hand. Dancing with a broken hand is harder than you think, and it made learning some of the moves harder. There were also some moves we didn’t even try because of my hand but we hope that later on when my hand is better we will be able to attempt those moves. We kept the dance moves simple this week with learning the transition, behind the back, pretzel and another one called the armpit. The moves we didn’t attempt were the backflip, between the legs, and the fall down dip. Hopefully my hand heals quick so we can attempt these moves.

This dance has been really fun and our favorite dance so far. A big shout out to Brooke and Maci for giving us some advice and help during part of our dance today. This dance will be beneficial for us as so many people know the jitterbug and it is popular at prom and Bucking Horse. I’m really glad we chose this as one of our dances.

  1. Major oof, Kaden. I hope your hand heals soon. I know we learned the jitterbug back in elementary school. Is it very similar to that, or are there more advanced things we didn't learn?

  2. I'm glad that you guys are having fun with your project. Once your hand heals, will you be trying any lifts or anything crazy like that? I will be sure to tune in because it seems very interesting what you guys will accomplish!
